The structured shape follows the body without feeling rigid, while the high collar creates a strong frame around the face. Epaulets emphasise the shoulders and give the upper silhouette definition, balanced by the shorter length of the coat.

The result is a compact, distinctive shape that works particularly well with longer and wider silhouettes underneath.

For an elegant urban look, wear it with high-waisted straight or wide-leg trousers and clean leather ankle boots. The shorter coat leaves more of the leg visible and allows the trousers to create one uninterrupted vertical line, making the overall silhouette appear longer.

For a more relaxed look, combine it with a fine knit, loose trousers and substantial flat boots. Keep the knit relatively clean around the neckline — the high collar is already the strongest element close to the face.

With a long skirt or dress, use the contrast in lengths deliberately. A fluid midi or maxi silhouette extending below the short structured coat creates a particularly strong proportion: compact and architectural above, long and moving below.

If you wear the collar open, a simple fine knit or clean neckline underneath works best. When the collar is raised, avoid scarves and bulky roll-necks competing for the same space.

Because the epaulets already emphasise the shoulders, avoid adding too much volume underneath the coat in this area. Very bulky sleeves or heavily structured shoulder pieces can disturb the clean upper silhouette.

For jewellery, keep the neck relatively quiet. Sculptural earrings or a strong ring work better than a large necklace, particularly when the collar is worn high.

Stylist's note: Use the collar to change the proportion of the coat. Raised, it draws attention toward the face and makes the silhouette sharper and more architectural. Worn open, it softens the upper body and gives the coat a more relaxed character.
