For a relaxed alternative look, substantial flat boots work particularly well. They give enough visual weight to balance the floor-length skirt, while the soft French terry keeps the dress comfortable and prevents the dramatic silhouette from feeling overly formal.

For a gallery, concert, dinner or creative event, use the hood as part of the styling. Worn down, it creates sculptural volume across the shoulders; worn up, it changes the character of the entire silhouette and pushes the look further toward dark avant-garde and dystopian styling.

Avoid a necklace with this dress. The high collar and hood already frame the face and neck, and another focal point in the same area would make the upper silhouette unnecessarily busy. Sculptural earrings, a strong ring or a cuff are better choices.

Stylist's note: If you wear the hood down, keep long hair either contained or pulled forward rather than covering the back. The shape of the hood and the exposed vertical seams are part of the design and are worth leaving visible.
